BLACK SWAN EVENTS

Black swan events can, and do, come from nowhere, and take people by surprise, normally with
bad outcomes.

Recently German police arrested members of a far-right group with links to Russia who were
planning to launch an attack on the Federal German parliament, in order to overthrow the
Government, and install a regime modelled on the old Imperial Germany.

Who could have seen that coming? The repercussions, if successful, would have been enormous,
not just for Germany, but also for Europe, and the world as a whole.

The horrendous attack by Hamas terrorists in October 2023 took Israel, and the world, completely
by surprise. The attack started a full-scale war between Israel and Hamas, and it looks likely the
conflict will spill out into the wider Middle East.

The point of this blog is to remind you that events like this can come from nowhere, and seriously
impact on your financial health, and even compromise your physical safety.

So, as ever, hope for the best, and plan for the worst.
