DON’T RELY ON A JOB
Having a job is fine, to a degree,as it brings in regular income, and provides some stability to your
financial position. However, at this moment in time it would not be wise to rely on this being your
sole provider of money and financial well-being. Consider-
- There is no such thing as a job for life, and although that has been the way for many years, that trend is accelerating.
- You are at the mercy of your employer. Unless you have made yourself indispensable to your company, you could be replaced/fired/let go at a moment’s notice.
- You are at the mercy of your Government. If they need to raise taxes, they can simply raise the tax threshold at which you pay tax. So you pay more tax, and can’t do a thing about it.
- With the cost of living increases and high inflation rates, you are probably becoming poorer every day, unless your employer ensures your pay is being increased automatically in order to keep pace. Very unlikely.
So what is the solution?
It would be a very good idea to develop a “side hustle” or part time
business in order to supplement your wages. I would not suggest you ditch the job and leap into
the new venture. Far better to have the two running in parallel, at least until you have become well
established and secure. Yes it will mean less leisure time, but when you consider the alternatives,
it really is a no-brainer.
We actively encourage side businesses, especially internet based, and I hope you can find
something useful on our site.
It is up to you to take responsibility for your financial security, nobody else is going to.
